***UPDATE*** CURRENTLY DUE TO COVID-19 WE ARE NOT ABLE TO USE SACRISTANS FOR MASS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Welcome to the sacristan portion of our new website at Sacred Heart. If we look into the Old Testament we will find the sacristan ministry has been alive and well for many years. In the book of Luke (Luke 1:8-10), when the angel appeared to Zechariah, he was performing the duties of a Levitical priest, which is similar to what a sacristan does today.
Sacristans at Sacred Heart arrive at least 15 minutes before Mass, make sure the credence table is ready for the holy sacrifice of the Mass, and that all necessary other supplies are ready. After Mass, the sacristan will remove everything used and make sure that everything is ready for the next Mass.
If you are interested in helping carry on the modified tradition of Zechariah here at Sacred Heart, and serving as a sacristan, contact the Director of Music and Liturgy at [email protected].
